Trailhead:
Stevens Gulch Trailhead Activities:
Closest City / Town: Silver Plume, Colorado Driving Directions:
Hiking Distance: 4.3 miles (one way). Note: the return trip is slightly shorter because you will have already reached both summits and will most likely want to take the trail that bypasses Grays Peak. Description: Grays Peak and Torreys Peak are the perfect introductory fourteeners. They are non-technical (so long as there is no snow) and exciting to hike. And, the hike is relatively short (compared to some other fourteeners like Mount Massive and Blanca Peak). Still, be sure to bring proper provisions and a good jacket. Sometimes the wind feels like it is going to throw you from the peaks. Snow usually clears from the peaks by the end of June. Note that we have also included the Grays bypass trail on the map (dashed red line on the topo map). Worth Noting: Try to make the hike on a weekday. If you are a "weekend warrior," then you are bound to run into hoards of people. You can find camping near the trailhead. Suggested Materials:
