In addition to Colorado, there are numerous locations worth
exploring throughout the Four Corners Region (Utah,
Arizona,
New Mexico) and
Wyoming.
Below is a short list of intriguing places. Please be sure to respect
each area while hiking, backpacking, rock climbing, and exploring; many of
the ecosystems are extremely fragile! Click on the location titles below to obtain information
about each geographical area and to view photographs.
The Wind River Range ("Winds"), located
in the heart of Wyoming's Rocky Mountain Range, forms part of North
America's backbone - the Continental Divide. This statuesque
mountain range runs for nearly 100 miles, offering superb hiking,

There isn't much more we can say about
this area except that it is climbing and bouldering heaven. The

visitors should enter only if they respect the culture and historical
underpinnings of the Ancient Puebloans...continue

The hike is a long, non-technical adventure. There are
numerous other hikes in the area. If you are staying in Taos, this

Kane Ranch, Paria Plateau, and
Vermillion Cliffs sit in the middle of some of the most rugged country
in the lower 48. Recently, California Condors were reintroduced
in the area. The Peregrine Fund currently oversees the project,
and, hopefully, it will be a success. However, the Fund is still
struggling with issues such as the use of lead bullets for hunting in
the area. If ingested by the birds, the consequences are
fatal... continue
